SSL Clock

FAQ

How often are certificates checked?

Every six hours. You can also run a check from the monitor page.

What does an alert contain?

The hostname, the reason, issuer and expiry when we have them, and a short explanation of the likely cause and fix. Optional Slack or Teams webhooks get the same note.

Will I be emailed on every check?

No. Each day-count threshold is sent once for a given certificate expiry. The same error is sent once until it clears and happens again. A renewed certificate has a new expiry, so the thresholds can fire again.

What if a host is briefly down?

Unreachable alerts wait until several checks fail in a row. The default is three. A single blip does not page you.

Do you store private keys?

No. SSL Clock opens a TLS connection, reads the public certificate, and disconnects.

Can I watch a port other than 443?

Yes. Set the port when you add the monitor.

What happens at the plan limit?

New monitors are refused. If a downgrade leaves you over the limit, the oldest monitors keep being checked and the rest are paused until you upgrade or remove one.

How do I pay?

Stripe Checkout starts a subscription and accepts promotion codes. The billing page shows the plan, the card on file, invoices, and in-app upgrade, downgrade, cancel, and resume. The customer portal updates the card and billing address. A failed payment keeps the paid plan through a grace period, then moves the account to Free when Stripe ends the subscription.
